Teodora Akinola is on a personal mission to change the European Union’s policy regarding the age of consent, advocating for an increase to at least 16 years as the minimum legal age. Her areas of interest include communications, human rights, social justice, diversity and inclusion, gender activism, interculturalism, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Teodora is Vice President of the GEYC Board of Directors and Co-Creator of the Diaspora Solidarity Group, an NGO founded in response to the conflict in Ukraine. The organization was established as an emergency response initiative, providing rescue, resettlement, and ongoing support to refugees from Ukraine. The mission of the Diaspora Solidarity Group is to design and implement projects, programs, and activities aimed at improving the quality of life and health of individuals, regardless of age, nationality, or sexual orientation, with a special focus on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups and their families.

She began her volunteer work at the age of 14 and continues to volunteer to this day. As the President of Diaspora Solidarity Group, Teodora has co-founded three other NGOs and collaborates with several others, including Girl Gone International. With over 15 years of experience in both local and international NGOs, she is also part of a global initiative in partnership with United Nations (UN) agencies and other NGOs, responding to disaster situations and supporting aid and development efforts worldwide.

Since 2018, Teodora has worked as a trainer and consultant in international contexts. Over the past five years, she has delivered training and consulting projects across the business, public administration, and educational sectors.

Fluent in five languages—Romanian, English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese—Teodora lived in Spain for five years.

At the age of 19, she was part of the coordination team for the Students Model United Nations of Bucharest, the largest event of its kind in Romania, which brought together over 600 participants from 15 countries.

Teodora Akinola has mentored more than 50 people, primarily women, and is currently mentoring four women and one team in an international competition. She believes she was born to be a humanitarian and is passionate about the transformative power of communication, technology, and education in creating a better world.
