Abakar Mahamat is a Chadian health-tech entrepreneur and founder of Telemedan, a solar-powered, internet connected telemedicine kiosk bringing equitable primary care to remote communities. He also previously founded O’Nadif, a low-cost water-filtration initiative promoting access to safe drinking water for vulnerable communities, and has actively contributed to Chad’s emerging digital health regulation, advocating privacy-by-design and interoperability. Abakar’s work has been recognized by Forbes Africa,the Expo City Dubai Foundation, UNDP’s timbuktoo HealthTech Hub, the Global Startup Awards (Central Africa winner), and the Zayed Sustainability Prize (Grand Finalist 2025). Trained in engineering and IT management, he focuses on frugal, locally maintained solutions that make care reach people,not the other way around.
