Christian Wigand, a seasoned Austrian EU Commission spokesman, is now serving as Acting Head of the European Commission's representation in Vienna.

With over a decade of experience, Wigand has held spokesperson roles under Presidents Jean-Claude Juncker and Ursula von der Leyen, overseeing areas such as labor, social affairs, justice, consumer protection, and equality. Prior to his work in Brussels, he served as a spokesperson and cabinet member for Austria's Justice Ministry, focusing on European and international relations.

A native of Graz, Christian Wigand is an alumnus of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and holds a degree in theology as well as a master’s in international relations.
