Fatima is the Founder and Executive Director of Borno Women Development Initiative, an organization that aims to empower women and youth to play a constructive role in promoting peace and tolerance. Fatima is a member of African Women Leadership Network (AWLN), and the Secretary of AWLN Nigeria Chapter. Fatima is also a member of FEMWISE-Africa, promoting the participation of young women in peace processes. She leads an innovative mentoring program for Nigerian youths, including rescued victims of Boko Haram. Fatima focuses on de-radicalization and the creation of positive alternative narratives for women, girls and youths in the Northeast. Her interactive trainings and humanitarian support gives women and youth in Northeast Nigeria a very rare opportunity to openly discuss the conflict issues and social problems leading to radicalization and violence in their communities, providing them with economic support to boost resilience.
Fatima is an experienced peace building professional and a strong advocate for youth involvement in CVE and peace building. Fatima has advocated on behalf of youth involvement in peace building several times on the international level speaking at the United Nations Security Council, the African Union, and also with donors. While active in international advocacy efforts, Fatima is also extremely active in community-based peace building.
