Gernot Blümel (born October 24, 1981 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Since January 7, 2020 he has been Federal Minister of Finance in the Federal Government Brief II . From October 23, 2019 to January 7, 2020, he was a member of the National Council , and since 2015 he has been state party chairman of the ÖVP Vienna .

From 2008 to 2010 he was Vice President of the Young European People's Party (YEPP) . ^[1] From 2013 to 2015 he was ÖVP General Secretary. From December 18, 2017 to May 28, 2019, he was Minister of the Chancellery , responsible for EU, art, culture and media, in the Federal Government Brief I and, as such, Chairman of the Austrian EU Council Presidency in the second half of 2018 .
