DI Dr. Holger Friehmelt is director of the aviation institute at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Austria, since 2017, and also head of the associated degree program. In parallel, he serves as technical scientific director of the AIRlabs Austrian innovation laboratory, an infrastructure provider for testing UAV. In this role, he is a dedicated promoter of the disruptive technologies around unmanned aerial systems and a strong networking partner in the drone community.
Before his academic careers in Austria, he was working in aviation industry various management functions in Germany, the United States, and South Africa. Furthermore, he held positions at the German Aerospace Center and Dasa/EADS. Holger Friehmelt holds a master in engineering from the Technical University in Braunschweig and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He finished his doctorate at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1999.
