This is the first online website on HIV and AIDS in Iran, with over 623,790 hits in the six months from Aug 08 to Jan 09. The bi-lingual website was launched in cooperation with experts and medical doctors in order to reduce the present stigma and discrimination of HIV infected people in Iran. The country‘s latest HIV statistics show increased numbers of people who get HIV from unprotected sexual behaviors. The world of denial that people are living in keeps all these behaviors underground and the silence about the unpopular issue makes affected people even more vulnerable. The website offers in-depth and up-to-date information on the subject. Also many questions regarding different sexual behaviors and concerns about HIV and AIDS are dealt with through the website’s online counseling - a helpful tool that allows anonymity and discretion for people in need - which was launched in 2008. The website also covers latest national and international news, as well as latest research results on HIV and AIDS. By being also in Farsi the website is providing a better and easier use to the Iranian public and the Persian target group, that are women, youth and children. Project cancelled.
