LEBTOP (Learning English By Talking On Phone)

SDG 4: Quality EducationSDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

English is now the most widely used language in the world. People in countries whose native language is not English find it hard to talk in English. Many people who are learning English, want an English talking partner to practice, give guidance, correct them, etc…  Poor people in Non-English speaking nations are the most affected, as they do not have proper education, TV sets, Laptop, smart phones or newspapers. But nowadays almost everyone owns a basic cell phone to call someone. As the rural people and the poor, have only a cell phone to connect with someone else, LEBTOP is a system designed specifically for them. They can now call the LEBTOP number and connect with a teacher who is online and thus they can learn English by talking on phone.

The idea is easily scalable and is likely to function much better when put on a global platform. People can teach their native language to other people who want to learn it and by doing so the user can earn minutes of coaching in another language which he/she wants to learn. For example, An Indian can teach Hindi to other people and earn his minutes of learning English. An African person with average English speaking skills can teach other people Swahili in-return to earning minutes of English coaching for himself to make him a better communicator in English and so on...

Once people start communicating, there is exchange of ideas involved. Transfer of knowledge takes place. Thus LEBTOP is a powerful idea to bring a change in the world.
