Lil‘ MDGs, an informational resource on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) was founded in 2004 by a today 13 year old visionary with a passion for global issues. The web site was designed to promote awareness of the MDGs, to raise funds for related projects and to encourage children to get involved. Lil‘ MDGs intends to use the power of the Internet to mobilize youth as a driving force behind the efforts of achieving the goals. It educates, engages, and empowers children in all corners of the world to help solve serious local and global issues. Lil' MDGs, to date, has mobilized children from 31 states in USA and 34 countries, reporting $780,000 for tsunami relief and over 10 million for Gulf Coast hurricane relief. Collaborating with children from 12 countries and working with the UN Development Program the Lil’ MDGs project has raised also funds to build a dormitory for a school in Tibet; a computer center, library, and a mobile hospital in India; school supplies for students; and a playground for a school serving AIDS orphans in Uganda. Working with Jayme's Fund, Lil' MDGs organizes fundraisers, events, and benefit concerts to promote awareness of the MDGs and encourage children to get involved.
