WSA Where Are They Now? – How WheeLog! Is Empowering Contributors to a Barrier-Free World
From Isolation to Mission
In my twenties, I was diagnosed with GNE Myopathy. When I began using a wheelchair at 26, I faced a world full of "walls." However, this challenge became a turning point. I realized that even with a physical disability, I could be the one who helps others. This led to the birth of WheeLog! in 2017, a platform where wheelchair users and walking supporters share real-time accessibility information.

Global Impact & Collaboration
Winning the World Summit Award in 2018 validated our mission and acted as a bridge to the global stage. In July 2025, I represented Japan at the United Nations HLPF in New York. I shared our belief that with the right support, people with disabilities can be changemakers.
Today, we collaborate with corporate partners and welfare foundations to transform society. For example, we recently integrated 1,600+ accessible restroom locations in a major city. Our users also act as educators through corporate workshops, teaching businesses the true meaning of inclusion.

Future Vision
We continue to evolve with features like 3D simulation, allowing users to virtually check space accessibility. With over 225,000 photos, WheeLog! is "the warmest map in the world." Our vision is simple: A world in which anyone can go anywhere. By sharing our stories as data, we are building a truly inclusive society for all.
